'''Terry Balsamo''' (born October 9, 1973, in Jacksonville, Florida) can most prominently be seen and heard in the band's [[Anywhere But Home]] (2004) Live CD/DVD and now on the band's new album [[The Open Door]] (2006). His style and sound have most definitely made an impact on the band, and with astounding results. He has become [[Amy Lynn Lee |Amy Lee]]'s main collaborator for Evanescence and co-wrote most of Evanescence's new album including the album's first single, [[Call Me When You're Sober]].

Terry made his start in the music world as an early member of the now infamous Limp Bizkit. He left a few years before the recording of Bizkit's now classic album 3 Dollar Bill Y'All (1997), being replaced by Wes Borland. In late 1999, Terry joined up with fellow Jacksonville rockers; Scooter Ward, Sam McCandless, Jeremy Marshall and Kelly Hayes. Otherwise known as the monsters of Alternative Metal, [[Cold]].

Terry remained with Cold writing and recording with them for their epic yet underrated albums 13 Ways to Bleed on Stage (2000) and Year of the Spider (2003). Near the end of his stint with Cold, the band had joined Evanescence as an opening act on the 2003 Nintendo Fusion Tour. This was of course before the abrupt departure of Evanescence's guitarist, Ben Moody. Terry had filled in for Moody on stage with Evanescence after Moody left during Evanescence's European tour, and when Cold's future suddenly became questionable, Terry jumped ship signing on permanently with Evanescence.

In November 2005, Terry suffered a stroke from a torn neck artery which landed him in the hospital for an unspecified amount of time. Indeed, headbanging was the cause of the stroke.

Described as "a string-and-choir-infused closer distinguished as the band's first truly (almost) contented song" by [http://evanescence.com Evanescence.com], the song is reminiscent of the piano ballad [[Give Unto Me]] in it's purest form.
 
 It is decidedly upbeat and showcases an Amy Lee that is letting someone in and who sounds happily in love. She thinks it is the bravest track on the album. “It’s totally scary to be so vulnerable when I know however many metalheads are going to diss it because it’s not the exact same thing [as the other songs],” Lee says. “And it doesn’t end with, ‘And then he died’ or ‘I pushed him off a cliff’ or ‘He’s a ghost really.’ It’s so cool to me and weird to me. I’ve never written a happy song, ever.
 
Though the lyrics and feeling are generally happy, it is not a far cry from true Evanescence style. The first listen will have you feeling truly apathetic and moved.
 
The intro to this song came from a piece that Amy had written for Narnia, but was scrapped. We may never hear what originally folowed this beautiful and elaborate string/piano arrangement.

I was six years old and she was three. It’s affected my life and definitely affected my music writing, and it’s made me who I am. It’s one of those things that happens early enough in life that it forms you. I think in a lot of ways I made it a thing that I can use in a positive way in my life. I’ve learned from it and grown up, and I’ve always felt older. Twenty-four sounds young to me, it’s weird.”
Having lost a sister at such a young age put things in perspective for Lee, who says she cherishes making music and wants to love. “What else is there?” she ponders. “I don’t care about the stupid things as much as I would if I hadn’t been through that. The song is about me from the perspective of a child back then, and I go back to that place a lot of times. I went there and wrote the song that way. It’s not the kind of thing that I would normally say on a megaphone in front of millions of people.” 
“It’s something that changes you,” the singer stresses. “I love her, and I will always love her. Her spirit is always with us. I feel like I’ll always want to have a little place for her on every record. On the last record, it was ‘Hello,’ and I wrote that from the perspective of a child. I was talking about it in a little bit of a different way, but it’s the same inspiration."

The song was originally written for the movie The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe, but was scrapped by the director. "I thought it would be awesome for the opening scene, but they wanted something original," says Lee of the Mozart cover.

Terry's guitar solo in the middle of the song adds to its sheer epic sound before the choir closes with a stunning decrescendo.

In issue 88 of "Rock Sound", Amy revealed exactly what the song is really about. She explained how the song is based on "scary experiences". She explained how many nights she was forced to stay in hotels, because a stalker was erm...stalking her. She took the title from EvBoard, as her username is "Snow White". The word "Queen" was presumabely added because of what the attention the stalker made her feel like.

The setting of the song is so off-kilter, it basically arrests you from the first listen. It's violating. It's like the narrator is talking to the attacker, and the attacker is attempting to justify their actions in the chorus ("soon I know you'll see you're just like me."), either to the narrator or to themselves as they attempt to commit the crime.

I'm not trying to say that this song is based on a rape attempt, but the way the subject is discussed, it's very carnal ("all your hands on me/I can't scream", "undress in the dark and hide from you", "now I have you", "there's nowhere to run so let's just get it over") and there are a lot of references to the human body, in addition to a chord progression that's flat-out VIOLATING. You can't listen to this song without feeling at least a little disturbed.
