Behind the true vocation of [[Amy Lynn Lee|Amy Lee]] and her love for music (which remains her first undisputed passion<ref name="AltSounds" />), she is also interested in any other type of art: from animation to films, from painting to cooking. Painting in particular is one of the arts that, after music, most fascinates her. Her house is full of paintings. In fact, when Amy isn't busy with music, or wants to take a break, she likes to paint.<ref name="Black Velvet" /> On several occasions some of her drawings or paintings were shared or given away, as happened during [[The Stashbox contest]] (see the giraffe painting and sketch).

I like to have a side project always going on when I'm working, especially when I was making the record for example, there was always paintings going on on the side because I'll get stuck in one aspect and really, really feel like I need to get stuff out, I need to keep moving and I need to keep creating, so I'll move over to some completely different thing like a painting or cooking something or whatever just to stay moving even though I'm stuck on the music. I have a lot of partially finished paintings I need to get back to at home. They take me a long time. But it's a nice thing, because I feel like there's no expectation for it to be anything, it's just for me. If I ever want to do anything with them and share them some day then I can but I don't have to and nobody expects me to so it's like I still have a completely free place.<ref name="Black Velvet" />}}

During the Gibson Guitar "Paint For PEP" Charity Event, held on December 4, 2004 at the Gibson Baldwin Showroom, Los Angeles, California.<ref name="mi2n" /> This event, born from the collaboration of the PEP (The Pediatric Epilepsy Project) and the Gibson Guitar, saw the participation of several celebrities, including Amy Lee, committed to painting the forty electric guitars generously donated by Gibson.

During the event Amy painted an entire piano (probably the only one among many guitars) of the Baldwin Piano Company. The instruments were sold at a charity auction in favor of UCLA's Pediatric Neurology Department.<ref name="mi2n" />
