Out on your own
Out on your own
cold and alone again
cold and alone again
can this be what you really wanted, baby?
can this be what you really wanted, baby?
Blame it on me
Blame it on me
set your guilt free
set your guilt free
nothing can hold you back now
nothing can hold you back now
Now that you're gone
Now that you're gone
I feel like myself again
I feel like myself again
grieving the things I can't repair and willing ...
grieving the things I can't repair and willing ...
to let you blame it on me
to let you blame it on me
and set your guilt free
and set your guilt free
I don't want to hold you back now love
I don't want to hold you back now love
I can't change who I am
I can't change who I am
Not this time
Not this time
I wont lie to keep you near me
I wont lie to keep you near me
And in this short life
And in this short life
There's no time to waste on giving up
There's no time to waste on giving up
my love wasn't enough
my love wasn't enough
And you can blame it on me
And you can blame it on me
Just set your guilt free, honey
Just set your guilt free, honey
I don't want to hold you back now love
I don't want to hold you back now love
General Information

Written by: A. Lee, T. Balsamo

The Open Door: Track 7

The song was originally written for the movie 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe,' but was scrapped by th director. “I thought it would be awesome for the opening scene, but they wanted something original,” says Lee of the Mozart cover.

It features elements of W.A. Mozart's 'Lacrymosa' from his 'Requiem in D Minor.' More info on that composition can be found Here.

A 22-cord orchestra led by Dave Campbell (with whom Evanescence had already worked for their performance at the Billboard Awards 2004) starts off the song in order to introduce a choir, which serves as back up for Amy’s vocals.

"Dave Campbell is an enormous inspiration source for me" says Amy. "He’s so talented. The way he arranges orchestral parts is remarkable. It's the element of our music that makes me cry!

Terry's guitar solo in the middle of the song adds to its sheer epic sound before the choir closes with a stunning decrescendo.

Recorded in a chapel near Seattle.

A 30 second clip of this song along with The Open Door trailer was featured on music.aol.com's page for Evanescence. It can now be seen on YouTube Here.
