General information

Written by: Jeff Moss

Rubber Duckie is the seventh track from Amy Lee's children's album, Dream Too Much. It's a cover of the song originally by Sesame Street, listen to the original here.

Both Amy and her father, John Lee, perform on this song. She chose to cover it because it takes her back to her childhood:

Vin1.jpg Most of the songs we chose to cover relate to my childhood memories and my family. "Rubber Duckie" and "Goodnight My Love" are both songs my dad sung and played to all of us kids when we were young, many times. I wanted to get a good recording of my dad doing those for us all to have forever, that was the original reason that my father and I got together to record this year.[1] Vin2.jpg

In another interview, she said:

Vin1.jpg ‘Rubber Ducky’ was a song he played for us a million times, usually in the Ernie voice [laughs] but I made him drop the Ernie voice for this.[2] Vin2.jpg

Lyrics

Rubber duckie, you're the one
You make bath time so much fun
Rubber duckie, I'm awfully fond of you
Rubber duckie, joy of joys
When I squeeze you, you make noise
Rubber duckie, you're my very best friend, it's true

Oh, every day when I make my way to the tubby
I find a little fellow that's cute and yellow and chubby
Rub-a-dub-a-dubby

Rubber duckie, you're so fine
And I'm lucky that you're mine
Rubber duckie, I'm awfully fond of you

Oh, every day when I make my way to the tubby
I find a little fellow that's cute and yellow and chubby
Rub-a-dub-a-dubby

Rubber duckie, you're so fine
And I'm lucky that you're mine
Rubber duckie, I'm awfully fond of
Rubber duckie, I'd like a whole pound of
Rubber duckie, I'm awfully fond of you
