On November 21, 2019, Amy took part in a Reddit AMA, and this is what she had to say about the new album:
She also explained that the new music is "dark and heavy" and has "''[[The Open Door]]'' vibes" in terms of it having "weird and sparse" moments.<ref>https://www.reddit.com/r/Music/comments/dzqjla/i_am_amy_lee_from_evanescence_our_new_song_the/f89rx6q?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x</ref>
{{quote|Well, I listen to our new music every day. I'm absolutely living in it. This is always the case for me, really, but I'm in the center of the zone right now, watching the picture take shape and swimming inside every new piece as it appears. I can't wait for you to hear it. It's dark and heavy. Its also got moments of weird and sparse. Little bit of everything. Definitely some open door vibes but not the same.<ref>https://www.reddit.com/r/Music/comments/dzqjla/i_am_amy_lee_from_evanescence_our_new_song_the/f89rx6q?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x</ref>}}

Amy has said that the band will record the album in sections during 2020 to work around their tour plans. She said they might also bring in a different producer each time they hit the studio.
{{quote|We're going in the studio sometime in the beginning of next year, just to start some of it. We're not gonna do it all at once, we're gonna just, like, go as we go kinda thing. There should be new music to hear pretty soon.<ref>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4n2UiznKzVw</ref>}}
