As of May 2019, Evanescence's fifth studio album is currently in the writing process as confirmed by Troy McLawhorn and Tim McCord on their Instagram pages.[1][2]

Amy has mentioned that the new music will go back to it's rock roots and that they've got some ideas in the bank for the record. This includes previous songs that didn't make it to the self-titled record and Synthesis.[3][4] There is currently no confirmed release date.

On November 21, 2019, Amy took part in a Reddit AMA, and this is what she had to say about the new album:

Vin1.jpg Well, I listen to our new music every day. I'm absolutely living in it. This is always the case for me, really, but I'm in the center of the zone right now, watching the picture take shape and swimming inside every new piece as it appears. I can't wait for you to hear it. It's dark and heavy. Its also got moments of weird and sparse. Little bit of everything. Definitely some open door vibes but not the same.[5] Vin2.jpg

Conception

Recording Process & In the Studio

In an interview with Summa Inferno published on December 12, 2019, Amy Lee confirmed that Evanescence will begin recording the new album in early 2020 and do it in stages throughout the year:

Vin1.jpg We're going in the studio sometime in the beginning of next year, just to start some of it. We're not gonna do it all at once, we're gonna just, like, go as we go kinda thing. There should be new music to hear pretty soon.[6] Vin2.jpg
