The Smashing Pumpkins (also simply known as Smashing Pumpkins) are an American alternative rock band formed in Chicago in 1988 and is known for their diverse, densely layered sound, which evolved throughout their career and has integrated elements of gothic rock, heavy metal, grunge, psychedelic rock, progressive rock, shoegaze, dream pop, and electronica.
Amy Lee has cited them as one of her early inspirations. One of her first concerts was The Smashing Pumpkins and Garbage when she was fourteen or fifteen years old.
Evanescence covered their song, Zero, during the Fallen tour in 2003 and 2004.[1]
