Tim Burton

Timothy Walter Burton (born August 25, 1958) is an American film director, producer, artist, writer, and animator. He is known for his dark, gothic, and eccentric horror and fantasy films. Tim has worked repeatedly with actor Johnny Depp and with musician Danny Elfman.

Amy Lee is hugely inspired by Tim Burton's films - her favourite being The Nightmare Before Christmas. She sang a cover of Sally's Song from the film, which was featured on the 2008 album, Nightmare Revisited.

The Nightmare Before Christmas is my number one biggest influence artistically in every way. [When I was young] I literally would sit in my bedroom and sing Sally’s Song, or in the car driving to school. The best part about it [recording the song] was that I had no restrictions or direction or anything. I picked the producer, who’s a friend, and we just made the song however we wanted together.

Amy wore a coat that was previously owned by Burton in Johnny Cash's tribute video for God's Gonna Cut You Down. She also attended the New York premiere of Burton's film Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street on December 3, 2007 with her husband, Josh Hartzler.

Amy has stated many times that Burton is her dream collaborator.

“I’d do anything to work with Tim Burton. I love him, but I’ve never been able to meet him. I got to meet [frequent Burton musical collaborator] Danny Elfman – he had me come over to his house. I wanted to learn more about Danny’s process! “I would love to meet Tim Burton, but there would have to be a reason, there would need to be the right project, the right film. That would be a moment where you could just print up the tombstone. It’s his contrast; everything is like a cartoon, the colours are like a dream of life, like a painting that’s come to life.
