Evanescence's fifth studio album is as yet unconfirmed, but heavily hinted from the band that they will begin recording new material after the Synthesis Live tour in 2018.

In an interview with BUILD on September 30, 2016, Amy Lee not only hinted about Synthesis, but also that a new album after that is planned and that they will be active throughout 2017, 2018 and 2019.[1] When the band were interviewed in Finland in June 2017, they were asked if they had any new music for the next "completely new" Evanescence album, to which Amy and Tim responded:

Vin1.jpg Amy: Yeah, we have a couple of ideas already started that I think we'll go towards that, yes. We've had a couple of songs sort of in the bank since, I don't know, the last go-around. We had a lot of songs that didn't make it on the last album, so there's a couple there to kind of draw from. And in addition to that, whilst writing for [Synthesis], as there are some various new songs on it, some of them weren't the right fit stylistically, but I think they're really good, so I think that might be the next thing.

Tim: We're also always musically making things individually all the time. So by the time we get together to do the next one, we're going to have a big head start with a pile of stuff to go through and work out.

Amy: Yeah, you are working on something right now, right? In the hotel room?

Tim: I've got like ten things going on right now.[2]

When Will Hunt was interviewed by Walls of Sound in Australia in February 2018, he said that Synthesis has "broadened [their] horizons" and "added different colors to [their] palette" for the next record.

Vin1.jpg One of the coolest parts of that is for the next record, it's opened up a lot of different doors that we maybe wouldn't have explored.[3] Vin2.jpg

No tracks have been confirmed, but a possible contender is Take Cover since it's been played live and is an Evanescence outtake.
