'''''Forever You''''' is a song recorded during the 2001/2002 demo sessions. It was never released. According to tour guitarist John Lecompt's wife Shelly LeCompt, an old version of "Forever You" was John's song before he joined Evanescence, with its working title originally being "C Sharp", and Evanescence later re-worked it and Amy added her own lyrics to that version.<ref name="evboard" />

According to LeCompt, the original name of the song was C Sharp, the guitar tuning of the song. Originally, it was meant to be on Fallen, but never made the cut. An alternate look at the song describes John LeCompt’s secret addiction to Eggo waffles.
{{quote|John did write that song as a solo thing he did between the Mindrage split & joining up with Evanescence! Forever You is a song recorded during the 2001/2002 demo sessions. It was never released. According to tour guitarist John Lecompt's wife Shelly LeCompt, an old version of "Forever You" was John's song before he joined Evanescence, with its working title originally being "C Sharp", and Evanescence later re-worked it and Amy added her own lyrics to that version.[1]

John did write that song as a solo thing he did between the Mindrage split & joining up with Evanescence! (that let's you know how long ago that was -hehehe) And the original version (which I am now listening to because you guys are making me remember back when - hehehe) called C sharp was all john when he recorded on our home pc. He did all the music & all the lyrics, he played it all & sang it all! So pretty - hehehe. Okay then came the lovely Ben & Amy, they loved as John loved it so added a little Evie to it and there was the beginning of Forever You. Amy did her own lyrics to that version. I think that clears up everything or makes it worse who knows! hahaha :D[1]

According to John, for the Evanescence version David and Ben did the keys and programming and the chorus was used as the verse vocal melody on Bring Me To Life.[2][3][4]

Lyrics

I wanted you to be with me
For so long I don't even know why now
But now that I've given up on you
Defiantly you see me

Walking away I see the pain
You put me through [I see through you]
Lost in your game to change the same
Forever gone, forever you

There's something very wrong about this
I think you knew all along somehow
You'll only take me to change my mind
And leave me broken and defeated

So far away I see the truth
I see through you [I see through you]
Now that I know the way you play
I don't want to

Walking away I see the pain
You put me through [I see through you]
Lost in your game to change the same
Forever gone, forever you

So far away I see the truth
I see through you [I see through you]
Now that I know the way you play
I don't want to

Walking away I see the pain
You put me through
Lost in your game to change the same
Forever gone, forever you
