General information

Written by: A. Lee

Lost Whispers is an intro that first appeared during the 2009 shows (see Maquinaria Festival 2009). The song was written during Amy Lee's early sessions of her electronic experimentation period in 2009 that later led to Evanescence's third album. However, the initial sessions for that album were scrapped by the label. This scrapped album was denominated by Amy as "my Broken Record."[1]

Amy said this about this track when it first publicly appeared in 2009:

Kind of like a prayer to reconnect to the old music, my old self. Calling it all back to me.

I'm glad we were able to use at least just a minute of new music. Terry and I wrote that a few months ago and its been in the "half done" bin for awhile. I think it turned into a beautiful intro.[2][3]

The song was confirmed to appear on the b-sides compilation album, Lost Whispers, as part of The Ultimate Collection vinyl box set, and was then digitally released on February 17, 2017.[4]

On May 3, 2018, the song was uploaded to the band's YouTube account.[5] In November 2021, it was made available on streaming services.
