General information
With or Without You is the second track and the second single from Recover, Vol. 1. It was released on Amy Lee's YouTube channel with an accompanying music video on November 10, 2015.[1] The song was originally by U2.
Amy posted this statement on Facebook about how this song came from a dream she had:

Sometimes I dream in music. The dark version of U2's immortal song was playing in my head as I woke up one morning. I was lingering in that half-awake, half-asleep place, with no images - just darkness, this song, and huge emotions. As I was becoming conscious I just kept thinking 'Don't let it go, don't forget!' And I went straight upstairs and laid down the synth and basic vocal. I had the pleasure of seeing U2 live at MSG this year and it was powerful and inspiring. It made me excited to play live again! This track is still my favourite of theirs. Love is rarely simple, more often it's tearing your gut out. And I think that's why this song creeps into my dreams and haunts me. Enjoy![2] |

Video
The music video was made and directed by Eric Ryan Anderson, who also created the front cover of the EP. It shows Amy in her home studio recording the vocals and walking around New York, with various layered effects from one shot to another. The entire video is in black and white.
